REV. Fr. Dr. Dr. Kizito L Muchanga
President and Climate Champion
Rev. Fr. Dr. Dr. Kizito Muchanga is a Catholic priest, educator, and scholar dedicated to raising awareness about climate responsibility among youth in academia and faith communities. He holds two PhDs—one in Peace and Conflict Studies and another in History—as well as a master’s degree in History. Additionally, he holds undergraduate degrees in Education, Philosophy, and Theology. A prolific writer with over 40 published research papers, Fr. Muchanga brings more than 35 years of teaching experience to his mission. He believes that environmental responsibility is deeply rooted in faith, drawing inspiration from Genesis 2:15: “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” His mission is to train and encourage clergy to recognize climate change as a serious responsibility and to integrate environmental awareness into their ministries. Through education, advocacy, and faith-based initiatives, he works to ensure that both academic and religious communities actively contribute to a sustainable future.
