Elders and the Earth

At NEXTGEN FOR EARTH, our elders are not left behind.  Our youth ambassadors, environmental mentees and researchers encourage the elderly to pass on their wisdom, plant trees and care for the environment. This wisdom comes in the form of Indigenous knowledge—lessons about the land, the seasons, animals, healing, early weather warnings and traditional ways of living that have been passed down through generations. By listening to the elders and recording their stories, our ambassadors help protect this knowledge, so it is not lost. Together, the young and the old work side by side—planting trees, sharing stories, and building a stronger future rooted in respect, culture, and care for the Earth. By so doing our vision is to bring together everyone —from pre-unit children and school learners to teenagers, health workers, businesses, and the elderly—so that the whole community stays connected. By involving all these groups, we ensure that the message of caring for the planet reaches every corner of society. Whether it’s planting trees, learning from elders, or teaching the young, each person has a part to play. This unity helps us protect the environment, support one another, and pass on important knowledge that will guide future generations.
